Deirdre Clune has welcomed today’s announcement of €8 million in funding for the upgrade of fire stations across the country. This includes 16 new fire engines, three new fire stations in Templemore, Co. Tipperary; Ferbane, Co. Offaly and Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny.

“This funding will provide 3 new engines for Cork, 1 for Kerry, Carlow, Limerick, Tipp and Wexford. This is good news for our fire service and will make a big difference to local fire fighters.

“This is part of a fund of €8 million being distributed to buy appliances and equipment, to build or upgrade fire stations, upgrade the communications and mobilisation system and improve training centres.

“Investment in new fire appliances will ensure that the fleet is maintained and will further enhance the capability of the fire services.
