Boost for Business and Tourism in Munster as Aer Lingus Reinstates Vital Route

Businesses in Munster and especially, Cork got a big boost recently after Aer Lingus reinstated links to top international hub, Amsterdam. Tourism in Cork will also be boosted as Amsterdam provides a vital link to transatlantic routes for Cork travellers.

I have been campaigning to have the links to Amsterdam reinstated after they were cut by Aer Lingus earlier this year.

I was outraged at the decision by Aer Lingus to cut flights to such an important hub as Amsterdam, which were extremely popular with Cork based business people and those travelling long-haul.

The Cork to Amsterdam Schiphol flight is a vital route for the Munster region, providing connectivity and access not only to Amsterdam, but also to onward flights through this international airline hub as well as excellent train access across Europe through Schiphol Airport Railway Station.

Passenger numbers on the Cork-Amsterdram route are generally high with flights regularly fully subscribed.

I am delighted that Aer Lingus has reinstated these important and popular flights in the interest of business and tourism needs. I hope now that they are here to stay. It is great to have such vital air links into and out of Cork.
