Cork City Bridges to be repaired by Council

Damage to St. Patrick's Bridge
Cork City Council has confirmed to local TD Deirdre Clune that work will be carried out to repair damage done to St. Patrick’s Bridge and Parliament Bridge.
Both St. Patrick’s Bridge and Parliament Bridge have been damaged as a result of being hit by drivers over the last few weeks. Cork City Council has now contacted me to confirm that in both cases the Council have started the process of repairing both bridges.
In the case of St. Patrick’s Bridge the repair work is highly specialised and expensive involving the reproduction of stone balustrades. The Council is now seeking quotations from specialised contractors. Given the specialised nature of the work it is expected that it will take a number of months to have the repairs carried out.
In the case of Parliament Bridge the Council hopes to be able to recover the stone blocks from the river and repair work will then be carried out on the bridge. It is hoped to have the work on this bridge completed by Easter.
