Local TD Deirdre Clune has welcomed Cork County Council’s decision to proceed with the Clarke’s Hill and Moneygourney Road Improvement Scheme.

The Council’s decision to provide €1 million in funding to proceed with long overdue road improvements this summer in the Clarke’s Hill & Moneygurney area will be welcome news to the many thousands of people living in the area.

This is an extensive road upgrade running for 1.75km from the Mount Oval Entrance on Clarke’s Hill to the junction with Maryborough Hill.

The project will include:
new roundabout at the entrance to Fort Hill and The Borough,
a signalised pedestrian crossing at the entrance to Foxwood
traffic lights at the intersection of Clarkes Hill and Coach Hill & at the entrance to Mount Oval,
public lighting,
1.5m to 2m wide footpaths,
set-down facilities at four bus stops along the route,
drainage works,
facilities for pedestrians,
road widening and resurfacing,
junction improvements,
traffic calming measures.

This Summer work will proceed on the first phase of the plan between the Mount Oval entrance and Foxwood. The second phase will take the project from Foxwood to Maryborough Hill.

Local infrastructure in the area has failed to keep pace with the population growth but I hope that this project will help address that balance.

    Deirdre,
When will the roadworks take place in CLarkes hill, is this August. Will there be disruption to traffic, times and for how long. As you know the traffic is very heavy in the mornings, need to know how we will be affected.
    Thanks,
    Aoife
