The decision to cancel the building of a new Health Centre in Carrigaline is shortsighted and ignores the needs of the community. It also means that the taxpayers’ money spent on purchasing a site, designing a new Health Centre and obtaining planning permission has been wasted.

The Government’s recent handling of the budgeting crisis at the hospital shows that we need a different approach to health care in Ireland.
