Concerns expressed by local residents and An Bord Pleanála’s Insperctor’s report about the scale of the Beacon Co-location Hospital development and the traffic congestion likely result from the development have been ignored. The Fianna Fáil and Green Government’s doomed co-location policy will now leave an unacceptable legacy in Cork.

Spike Island prison closed in 2004 and for the last five years the island has been left idle. The future of this historic island is now to be decided by an interdepartmental committee but no decision has yet been made.
