Ban Ki Moon puts Tipperary on the global stage – Clune
Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune has praised organisers of the Tipperary International Peace Convention for bringing the current Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon to Tipperary.
He was visiting the county to accept the Tipperary International Peace award for his work in promoting sustainable development, tackling climate change, empowering women, strengthening peacekeeping and generating momentum on disarmament and arms control. Previous winners include Mikhail Gorbachev and Nelson Mandela.
Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune attended the event which she described as an event which showcased the best of Tipperary to an audience of international policy makers and media.
